Every week, I have children in my class who love to write their own stories. At the moment, it’s mainly the girls BUT the boys are starting too!
To promote and celebrate the love of story writing, I’ve created a blank story book template for children to complete.
I always leave around 20 of these blank book templates in my ‘Author’s lounge’ so that they are readily available for all budding story writers.
Just print off the relevant template (KS1 or KS2) and staple the books together.
The KS1 book template contains 10 writing pages plus a front and back cover. On each writing page, there is space to draw a picture too.
The KS2 book template contains 16 writing pages and a front and back cover. On every other page, there is space to draw a picture.
It’s amazing to see the children’s faces light up every time someone mentions their book being displayed in the ‘Author’s lounge’.
I use the KS1 book template with my current Year 2 class and they love it. They write stories about unicorns, princesses, frogs, heroes etc.
The KS2 book template is adapted to attract older writers and is currently being trialled with a Year 5 class.
